Baluk Arts is an urban Aboriginal community arts centre making waves in the art world. Based in Mornington, Victoria, Baluk Arts supports artistic, career and audience development for Aboriginal visual artists of the Bayside, Mornington Peninsula and south-east Melbourne. Baluk is a local Kulin word meaning many or group of people, clan or mob and this reflects our members close connection and the diversity of our artists. Our emerging and established artists hail from all over Australia and their art expresses their identity and diverse cultural heritage in a contemporary context.
The range of artworks and gifts created by Baluk Artists include clap sticks, carvings of wood, stone and bone, paintings, works on paper, natural jewellery, handmade cards, books, scarves and sculpture.
These are available to purchase through our exhibition program in our gallery in Mornington, throughout the year in partner galleries throughout Australia or through our website.
Not only is the purchase of Aboriginal artwork through Baluk Arts an investment in the potential of an artist and their work, it also directly benefits our artists through access to materials, studio space and professional development opportunities.
