When writing your position descriptions, this is your opportunity to make your position shine. Consider how to make it attractive to the right volunteer for your organisation, to attract volunteers with the skills, experience, enthusiasm and commitment to your organisation. A little bit of time invested in creating your position description will save you time in the recruitment and training process.
Here are some ideas for things to include in your description:
- Who benefits from their volunteering efforts, i.e. the environment, a person with a disability who is able to go to theatre, etc.
- What is the cause or drive behind your organisation
- What skills or experience does the role require
- Is it short term, casual, once a week or ongoing?
